The following thesis has been researched by means of systematic review of academic literature that focuses on the areas of monopoly corporations, agribusiness, biotechnology, and Monsanto. The central argument of this work is that Monsanto comes as close as a company can to being a pure case of monopoly corporate power. Monsanto has used its power to exploit farmers all over the world, as well as increase the problem of hunger and starvation on this planet rather than help eliminate it, which is what they claim to be doing. What people need to do is educate themselves on how our food is produced and help find ways to help overcome the power of large corporations like Monsanto. Even the smallest changes, like rejecting genetically modified foods, can help to challenge the agenda of these corporations and start collective demands for more human and environmentally friendly production, manufacturing, and sales processes.
