These poems reflect the author’s sense of place in a rural fishing community on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. The theme of distinct natural environments distinguished even more from one another by the human civilization that cuts a rift between them is what grounds this collection, and the notion that human thought and activity works to reconnect these environments gives this theme its energy and resonance. The end result is a thorough exploration of a home place from various perspectives which build on one another from one section to the next.
