The logic of representation has fallen into crisis in modern International Relations. In response to this crisis, I argue that digital technologies have enabled the logic of representation to be applied in a new form of governance called “ control.” I define control as the ability to manage and effect change. Through control, the logic of representation has moved into de- centralized spaces of performance. Control has manifested itself in both military and capitalist strategies, attempting to manage this crisis by recapturing them within a renewed logic of representation. I argue that the link between corporate capitalist and military strategy has been strengthened under the logic of control. This link merges the production, representation and execution of war through the use of similar technologies. A key implication, I conclude, is that the experience of war is being replaced by the representation of war and as such violence is rendered aesthetic.
