The following thesis explores many subjects, which notably relate the feelings of solitude and resistance. The main characters from the novels: Le cri de l'oiseau Rouge and Pluie et vent sur Télumée Miracle really put emphasis on these feelings throughout the stories. In the case of Télumée in Pluie et vent sur Télumée Miracle, her laziness is the ultimate of most of her problems, whereas, in the case of Sophie, in the book Le cri de l'oiseau Rouge, her determination is what causes her to drift into the same relm. We encounter many contrasting traits which caracterize these two women. Télumée allows the people in her life to dictate her actions. She lets them manipulate her and after being hurt by them, she goes from an easy going little girl to a very scared and lonely woman. She then becomes very distrustful of anyone she meets. Contrary to Télumée, Sophie is a very shrewd person. She remains very suspicious of people and their intentions. For the most part, she keeps her distance from men and never lets them get close.
