Through secondary analysis of existing literature, this thesis examines middle-income teen crime. Specifically, this thesis studies immediate familial relationships and the teen perspective of middle-income teen crime. Key terms are used to define the middleincome teen experience. This thesis challenges current theories surrounding teen crime with particular attention paid to the middle-income teenage experience. The intent is to bridge gaps in the current research on the Sociology of the family and Sociology of deviance to better understand why teenagers who seemingly have “everything” resort to non-violent “trivial” crimes.
