The quasi-one-dimensional compound Nb3Te4 is inherently unstable to the formation of a charge-density wave, a coupled distortion of the conduction electron density and ionic lattice. Due to its framework structure, resembling a tunnel in the direction of the fiber axis, relatively large amounts of foreign atoms can be intercalated into the pure structure without significantly affecting the lattice constants of the host crystal. For this reason, Nb3Te4 provides a good model system for studying the effects of intercalation on chargedensity wave formation....
