The thesis-project involved the design, implementation and evaluation of a Study Guide to accompany the text Canadian Pentecostals: A History of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. The Study Guide accompanied the lectures in the required course GEN201 Pentecostal History and was implemented as a distinctly Canadian component in three classes of second year students at Eastern Pentecostal Bible College in Peterborough, Ontario, a denominational college of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada and the Pentecostal Assemblies of Newfoundland. The main purpose of the project was to test the effectiveness of the Study Guide as a teaching and learning tool. In addition, the project investigated the contribution of the Study Guide to the accomplishment of the institutional goals in terms of heritage appreciation, spiritual enhancement, and denominational loyalty. The results indicated a direct correlation between the use of the Study Guide and the attainment of higher scores on chapter quizzes and the final examination. By use of the Likert Scale, the project indicated that the Study Guide was a major factor in the students' increased sense of appreciation for their religious heritage, increased sense of spiritual enhancement and increased sense of loyalty to the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada and the Pentecostal Assemblies of Newfoundland.
