The purpose of this study is to determine how community art can be used as a form of community development through analyzing its impact on the community capitals. Through relevant content analysis and semi-structured interviews with appropriate field leaders, the barriers to implementing community art and recommendations for the evaluation of community art were established. These findings will be beneficial to those within the field of placemaking or community development, or those simply seeking additional information regarding community art. The specific topics within these findings include how community art relates to the natural, built, human, social, cultural, and commercial capitals; the cha llenges and barriers of implementing community art projects; and recommendations for the assessment of community art projects.
