Generating tidal power in the Bay of Fundy is an important aspect of Nova Scotia's shift to renewable energy. Since collection of ocean data is expensive, tidal models such as the Finite Volume Community Ocean Model (FVCOM) are used to simulate the flow within the bay. This thesis develops a new method of calibration for reducing the error of this model to within acceptable levels. The calibration method focuses on creating accurate data within the Digby Passages and Minas Passage, both locations of interest for placement of in-stream tidal turbines. Following the application of the calibration method, the model is validated against Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data collected from the passages to ensure accuracy and improvement over existing modeled data. The method is shown to improve the performance of the model at most of the locations of interest, although there is room for further improvements.
