Through sixteen interviews with eleven paid caregivers and five unpaid caregivers, it was found that communication between paid and unpaid caregivers was quite positively viewed from both sides. However, communication between the different agencies involved was not as positive as some believed it could be. In particular, communication between employees working for the district’s health authority (DHA) and employees working for a private healthcare provider (PHP) was lacking. Several paid caregivers expressed a desire for a comprehensive electronic health record that would be accessible by all of the paid caregivers involved with a client, allowing easier access to, and more reliable dissemination of, information. Attitudes towards using video-conferencing as a means of communication were somewhat mixed, although this form of communication was being used already between a seniors’ team within the DHA.
