Abstract

Graffiti’s ability to change the conditions of our urban environment by rejecting traditional notions of artistic practice creates an agent of social and political change that holds the power to change public opinions. Due to this ability it is an art form that is repressed, co-opted and censored by states the world over. This work aims to prove that Graffiti can be used as a tool for revolutionary socio-political change, and as such is subject to the aforementioned state reactions.
