The Cognitive Reflection Test (CRT) is a three-item measure that contains problems that produce an incorrect intuitive response; the correct response requires deliberation. Three new versions of the CRT have been created: CRT 4, CRT-L, and CRT-2. Stepwise regression analyses were used to examine the extent to which three variables were predictive of performance on each version among 95 undergraduates: numeracy, decision making styles, and reading comprehension. Results showed that one measure of numeracy and reading comprehension were predictive of performance on the original CRT, two measures of numeracy were predictive of performance on CRT-4, rationality and two measures of numeracy were predictive of performance on CRT-L, and rationality was predictive of performance on CRT-2. These results suggest that each version has different qualities and each should therefore be used in different ways.
