This creative thesis, Blood Lines, is a collection of thirty-one poems that belong to the Canadian tradition of the documentary poem and the need to seek out one’s roots by uncovering the fragments of history. The poems are inspired by the stories and lives of the people in my family, and have been divided into four sections: Navigation, Evolution, War and Souvenir. Written in free verse, the poems explore the lives of immigrants, soldiers, farmers, lovers and dreamers as they move across distance and through time. Photographs are included beside poems or behind them to create a dialogue between image and word.
